New PA22 Owner
G'day All,
My wife and I moved out to America about 2 months ago from Australia. I received my A&P qualifications just a few weeks ago and to celebrate I bought myself a great little TriPacer in need of some TLC.
It was metalized in the sixties and upgraded to 150 HP, TT on the aircraft is 1899 hours. It has 450 hours to run on engine and prop, also has new slick installed and a the carby was over hauled less than 100 hours ago.
I have some pictures of the aircraft for those who are interested at http://www.lovemoore.net/lovemoore.net/Tri_Pacer.html I will be updating it every few weeks with the progress on the project.
The aircraft sat for nearly 8 years with out being flown so I am currently in the process of given it a thorough "looking over"!
I am interested in hearing about any suggestions for upgrades, common faults to look out for or anything people want to share with me about the Tripacer's.
Also looking for were I can get myself a set of new wing struts????? Any ideas????
I thought I would take the time to introduce myself to everyone here as I just joined the forum and I am looking foward to getting to know some of the active members using it.
Cheers
Louis Moore

Hey Louis, How's it going? You can get new sealed struts from Univair Aircraft Corp. I have a 1953 PA-22 150 that has been metalized on the wings. You just can't beet a good old tripacer. They are good flying planes. I love mine. Nice talking to you. Hope the info will help.
Re: New PA22 Owner
Hello Louis ! I remember looking at this TriPacer back a couple years ago ................. It was located near FORT WAYNE, INDIANA out in the country on a farm area.
I was surprised to see that it was sold ! At that time, they were trying to get around $10,000 for the airplane and I just had a hard time realizing that it would not be able to fly out due to the long time it was sitting and I believe they also had a grass runway behind the house but it was not kept up. How did you get the airplane out of there ?
How is the work going on the airplane ? Have you found any big problems with the airframe ? I always wondered how these "metallized PA22 airplanes" looked under the skin ........................... Are you doing a complete teardown of the aircraft ? Please keep us informed, I was happy to know that you bought it, I hope you got a decent deal on the plane ................... Regards, Mark
