Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

I posted this about a week ago, but for some reason the message disappeared so I'm reposting.

On p. 40 of the Nov 2010 issue, Bill Cox's article (A New/Old Angle on Avoiding Stalls) includes a pretty surprising error:

The maximum lift is at the lowest possible angle of attack. Higher angles of attack result in less lift and also generate more drag....

This is odd, since the (almost) exact same article was printed about 6 months earlier in the May 2010 issue of Plane and Pilot, and did not include the error.

Re: Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

I just don't understand the management (or lack thereof) of POS. You would think that a reply would be in order.

I've sent 3 Support and Parts Locator inquiries to POS over the past few months and have NEVER received a response.

Re: Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

Prop fan, if that has happened I apoligize.  I dont recall ever not calling someone back or returning the e-mail (even if I wasent able to help them).  I wonder if there is a glitch in the system.  How have you been submitting your requests?

Jruhnke...I also apoligize that this has not gotten attention, also first I heard of this.  I will look into it and see if it can be fixed.
FWIW....I am the main person that monitors this forum, so the quickest way to get an answer is thru me.  I will get it done as soon as possible.

If anyone is not getting an answer, I would invite them to e-mail me directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
I will then get a answer for you.

Re: Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

Piper Tech: Three times I have used the "Aircraft Support" Link under the "Support" tab on the home page. Most recently, my inquiry was for help locating a part. If you click "Part Search" under "Features," you get taken to what appears to a fee-based service. My question is how to secure the parts locator assistance that is supposed to be a benefit of POS membership.

Re: Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

OK I will find out where this information is going to.  The parts search will require a fee if you want to continue to use it after the free trial has expired, however, you can always e-mail or call me and I will try to find the part you are looking for with no charge.  Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Nov 2010: Angle of Attack error

Prop fan.....the support link has been fixed.  All e-mails that are sent under that link will be coming to me now.  Again thank you for pointing this out to me.
