It's about 1000 now, but I've heard 7-8 hundred is normal. Does anyone have any feedback on this?

    What is a thousand? If you are talking about idle rpm, you should set it in accordance with the service manual.

    600, but I prefer 7 to 8.

    Thank You, it's been at 1000 idle RPM since I bought the plane, and I come in to land pretty hot! Short field is almost impossible.
