Bahamas

I am planning my first ever flight to the Bahamas in my Cherokee Six. Based on my research, it looks like the optimal route is from West Palm beach (KPBI) to the Freeport VOR (ZFP) and then on to Marsh Harbour (MYAM). i would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments anyone might have. Thanks.

  • Lots of people do it. I'd check the Beechtalk and AOPA site for more feedback.
  • Kurt,
The Bahamas are a flyer's playground, and a very easy trip for your 6. You 'eapis in and out', and clear customs at Marsh Harbor. No need to call Bahamas Customs as long as you show up during normal hours. I strongly suggest you get a copy of the Bahamas Pilot's Guide on your ipad or book form...it is worth it's weight in gold and has all the info you need to enjoy the Islands, including info on pilot discounts!

  • Kurt, I have a PA 32 and fly that route often. About one hour and fifteen minutes at 7500 feet. Enjoy the flight.
