Fuel Selector

I was reading over the featured story on the Piper Owner main website...it got me thinking. My fuel selector moves very easily between the OFF and left & right tanks....almost too easy. I realized that there is really no detent when I am selecting the left tank; I point the selector straight up and it stays in place. I haven't had any issues with fuel, but having only owned my Arrow for a month, I don't have a lot of history to work with.

I figured it was something worth mentioning at annual time, but that's not for a couple of months. Is a suspiciously easy-to-move fuel selector a concern in the way that a hard-to-move one is? The handle doesn't feel loose, it just doesn't stop at the left tank with any tactile satisfaction.

  • On my '77 Arrow 3 the fuel detents are significant and solid. That leads me to think that you should put it on your squawk list for your next annual. Just be careful (as you have been) for the next couple of months. :)
