Engine OH and EDM-830

I am into week 8 of my airplane being down for an engine overhaul due to a cracked case. Two weeks later the OH shop confirmed the case was cracked, so looking at 4 more weeks to repair and then they can start putting the engine back together. New prop on order, engine mount being OH’d, new prop governor on the way...basically a new airplane from the firewall forward. Unfortunately it is kind of looking like another 6-8 weeks before it will be in the air again.

With the new engine, I am putting in a JPI EDM-830 engine monitor in the plane. I am looking for some “tribal knowledge” on using it. I know there are resources out there about leaning, etc....but I am looking for some insight/discussion from the members. Airplane is a 1972 Arrow.

  • Hi Jim,
I have one in my 77 Arrow III. I just added oil temp, oil pressure, carbon monoxide/pulse oximeter to it. It's a great device and I'm really pleased to have it.
