  • Post some photos when completed. I considered the Stratus set-up, decided on Garmin GDL-82 in the end.

  • Good start! Post a finished pic, too :)

  • Absolutely. Appareo has been really cool too. I bought it in June to also get the free usb charger. Of course, last week they released the Stratus 3. They are installing the2i in my plane now and they will mail me the 3i to swap out when they get them in a few weeks.

  • I had the usb charger installed in my Archer II. Provides a lot of IPad charging power.

  • 2.1 amps per usb socket, if memory serves. Nicely done!

  • I wanted to refresh my own memory! I know the Sporty’s shop staff hightly recommended!

  • Coming along nice. I decided to leave it at this shop for annual and come back in two weeks. One thing that should be mentioned is that a newer encoder might be required for your install.

  • Removed about 4-5 pounds of old antennas and wires. Anyone know what this long one was for?

  • Hmmm. I should know this. It's kinda like a trick question on a test. ADF?

  • To clarify, my mechanic said the same thing about how it felt like his practical test. None of us knew what the antenna was.

  • Any Ideas on how to install a Garmin GDL-82 in a PA-28 151? I am having issues with placement of the GDL box because my Transponder antenna is under the front belly. Not enough room under the panel to place the box. It is not a simple installation on a PA-28 Not as simple as Garmin made it sound and it looks like you will need an avionics shop to do the install not an A&P mechanic

  • You can always move the transponder antenna under the back seat and put everything there. You just need power run back there.
