FAA Hinting at triple weight increase in LSA's

We're keeping an eye on the FAA published hint this week about LSA gross weight limit increases from 1,320 to around 3,600 pounds. At 3,600 pounds a Cherokee 6 or Lance would be an LSA. This has interesting ramifications for the pilot community as well as the aircraft manufacturing world. We'll see what happens and report on it as more information becomes available.

  • Wow! Would be a big change. Hadn’t heard/read anything about this.

  • Correction! AOPA had Jack Pelton announcing.

  • If this actually happens, it could very well be the smartest thing that the FAA has ever done. LSA's (at 1320 pounds) are fun, but absolutely useless for cross country travel of over 100 miles.
