Subject: FAA Airworthiness Concern Sheet related to V-Band Coupling Failures on Piper Aircraft

Hello Mr. Sherer,

Attached please find an Airworthiness Concern Sheet (ACS) seeking field input related to V-Band coupling failures at the turbocharger/tailpipe interface on turbocharged reciprocating engine powered aircraft.  While we have addressed this issue with mandatory and non-mandatory actions in the past, we continue to experience failures related to this interface. The ACS solicits feedback concerning maintenance practices, coupling configurations, aircraft use information, and corrective action recommendations.  It also requests, if available, any removed couplings be sent in for evaluation.  This valuable feedback will help determine the appropriate course of action going forward.  Thank you in advance for your assistance in distributing this request and helping to address this airworthiness concern.

Best regards,
