MAP at 12,000 ft

I have a 1981 PA 32R 301T. On a trip down to Key West at 12,000 feet density altitude and with the throttle for forward and Fuel flow at 19.5 gph the maximum manifold pressure I could attain was 26 inches. Is this normal for a turbo Saratoga?

  • I have a 1977 turbo arrow III (TSIO-360-FB) and I can get 33 inches at 12,000 feet and 13.5gph. No it doesn't sound right. Fuel flow sounds right but MP doesn't. What is your prop setting?

  • I usually cruise at 2350 RPM
  • I can get 33 inches at 2400 rpm. So you have a problem. Better see your A&P.
