Mixture Control Creep (old style)

After an ACF-50 treatment that included fogging behind the panel, my 1968 Cherokee 140 mixture lever creeps inward, enriching during cruise. If you know how to fix this without replacing the lever with a MC600-72 Vernier control, you'd save me a buck and a headache.

  • Im not sure why you would fog in the cockpit unless you are planning on taking the plane under water.. but you just lubed the friction lock on the quadrant. contact or carb cleaner on the entire shaft assmy to get the stuff off of it most likely will restore.

  • IF you have the older style push pull... unscrew the friction knob at the panel and spray the cleaners in that area. Should help for a while until the acf 50 contaminates it again.. If you have the really old style, you are going to have to soak the cable with cleaners ,,,Either way, you will have to redo untill the acf50 stops moving around... good luck! lol

  • Per Erich Rempert, A&P/IA: Try "washing" the ACF50 out of the mixture cable with brake cleaner.

  • FYI: Erich is our association A&P. He's A+.
