Headliner

Hello, all, I am contemplating painting the headliner of a 1977 Archer II. Any recommendations on the type of paint and lessons learned will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

    Plahnk:

Presumably, you have a vinyl headliner, as it wouldn't make sense to paint if it is fabric.

SEM products makes a dye for vinyl, plastic, etc. Can be brushed on or purchased in a spray can. Since it is a dye, it will not chip or flake off. Sprayed my plastic pieces 15 yrs ago, and they still look new.

If you're going to spray, you'll need to mask the entire inside of the plane, and ventilate it well.

Remove the plastic trim pieces. Clean the headliner well, let it dry thoroughly, and follow the directions on the can.

As long as you have the trim pieces out, now is a good time to spray them, especially if they are mismatched in color or yellowed. Similar process to the headliner. Clean, dry, and spray, following the directions on the can.
