  • I also got a call from AirPower and they are shipping me two 672127 clamps. I put a deposit down in ~2024/25. About $750 each for the clamps which is better than the other options. I hope RAM chokes on all their overpriced $1400+ clamps....

Continental did extend the AD inspection period again too. I think the Hartzell wire "frankenstein's monster" clamp will disappear in favor of the the new 672127 riveted clamp.

  • Ha! Thanks Carl. The rivets look well done (they are on the sides and you cannot see them in the pic) and they are now scribed with the WO and other details. I don't think they are individually serialized.

I am keeping the old ones as spares for the wye to turbo that is not subject to the AD...

  • Hello

Are you certain that the clamp wye to turbo is not subject to the AD..

    Dominique

  • Hi Dominique,

Apparently it does not. See the following information:

There is also a link within this document to the final ruling as well.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • Part number 672127 is correct.

  • TCM makeing the part now. RAM is not.

  • If you go thru the whole 96 page docket FAA-2022-0891 on regulations.gov you will discover that they don't have a single incidence of any failure on a Piper with a TSIO-360 engine installed. All the Piper issues were with Lycoming engines.

This is likely because the exhaust tailpipe is supported and does not apply torque or rely on the clamp to hold it in position on the Piper TSIO-360 installs.

If you look at the comments many commenters called out the unrealistic pricing of $400 per clamp and the FAA officially ignored it.

I don't feel any safer - just poorer.
